Capitol Wrestling Corporation was an American professional wrestling promotion and the original foundation of what would later become WWE. The organization was built in the 1950s by Vince McMahon Sr. and played a key role in the development of the modern wrestling business in the United States. Under its leadership, wrestling became more strongly marketed as an entertainment product and began transitioning from regional territories into a larger national brand. Through its later rebranding into the World Wide Wrestling Federation, Capitol Wrestling Corporation laid the groundwork for today’s global WWE structure. The promotion is therefore considered the historical origin of one of the most influential wrestling organizations in the world.
