Smoky Mountain Wrestling was an American professional wrestling promotion founded in the early 1990s by Jim Cornette. The company intentionally focused on a traditional wrestling style and was heavily inspired by the classic territorial era. Smoky Mountain Wrestling became known for its intense storytelling, clear heel-versus-babyface structure, and more grounded presentation compared to many larger promotions of the time. Several future stars, including Kane, Chris Jericho, and The Hardy Boyz, gained early experience there. Despite limited financial resources, the promotion developed a loyal fanbase and was viewed as a creative alternative to mainstream 1990s wrestling. Today, Smoky Mountain Wrestling is often regarded as one of the final major classic territory-style promotions.
