On May 1, 1989, the American Wrestling Association (AWA) hosted the unusual "Battle of the Breakfast Cereal" at the Hyatt Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This private corporate event was organized by Kellogg's as part of a sales meeting, featuring a series of wrestling matches themed around the rivalry between Kellogg's and competitor General Mills. The Minneapolis-based AWA, founded by Verne Gagne and Wally Karbo in 1960, provided the in-ring action for what was truly a one-of-a-kind corporate spectacle.
